Goals are not for you to 'get'. Goals are for you to GROW

A lot of people, if they have goals are setting the wrong goals, because they don’t know what goals are for.
So, why do we set goals?
Well, most people might say that you set goals so you can earn more money, so you can get a promotion. But that really is not why you set goals. We set goals so we can grow as a person.
You won’t move ahead, if you don't have a good reason to move ahead. That's the purpose of a goal, it’s something you put out there, that you really want to go after. You've got to really want it. You see the problem is if you don’t really want it, then you won’t go after it and if something comes along and gets in your way, you may forget about the goal and the purpose you had when you decided on that goal.
You see, if you're going to grow, you're going to a must make changes to your current habit patterns. You're going to have to change your mindset. It's not an easy thing to do. You’re going to hit barriers. You're going to come up against things that just scare the daylights out of you and without your reason and your goal could stop you.
Let me give an example: If you look at a failing team in any sport, the owners obviously what success, so do the coaches and players. But what usually happens the management make changes and the coach gets changed because they are deemed to be the problem. So, the new coach comes in with innovative ideas, new targets and new goals for the team.
So, if the team is now going to be successful, what do they have to do? They’re going to have to change the habits that they’ve had during the tenure of the previous coach. They’re going to have to change their mindsets, they’ll need to change the way they train, and they must change the way they are playing the game for them to be successful.
That is how they will grow as a team and how change their results!
That’s what we must do when we decide on a new goal. When we have a new goal, we need to change our habitual behaviours, but if we really want that goal, and it’s enough of a stretch for us, those changes will happen naturally anyway.
As far as we know as humans, are the highest form of creation in the universe, and we have unlimited potential within us. No one knows what we are capable of, so why would we ever restrict our ambitions and why would we think of staying where we are?
We all want to do better, we want more, we all want bigger and better things, but to do that we need to know what it is that we want. So how do you go about deciding what it is that you really want?
You see, when you are setting your goal, you shouldn't know how to get there. If you know how to get there, it's the wrong goal. If you know how to get there, you've already been there, or at least you know how to do it.
So let me explain this, we have what we call the ABC of goals.
Now an ‘A’ type goal is doing what you already know how to do, it’s doing something that you may have done last year. Imaging being a salesperson who hit last year’s target, if you were to set the same target next year, that would be an ‘A’ type goal there is no inspiration at all in this type of goal. So, this is not a type of goal you should consider.
Next, we have a ‘B’ goal, this type of goal is doing what you think you can do. So again, the same salesperson who hit last year’s target, let’s say we put another 5% on your target next year. So, you would be thinking. If I put this together, If I had this and that, and I got it altogether, then this would happen. You know you can do it. Again, absolutely no inspiration in this type of goal live would be boring and pointless, soon you might even give up and go elsewhere! So, again we do not deal in ‘B’ type goals.
Now a ‘C’ type goal is where it gets interesting, The C goal, that's where you're creating, you’re going after what you want. It’s a goal where you have no idea how you're going to get there or how you are going to achieve it, but the key is the want, you really, really want it!
What you must know and understand is, if you can see it in your mind, you can hold it in your hand. So how do you find out what your c-type goal is, well use your wonderful imagination.
Sit back close your eyes and imagine the world that you want to live in! Where do you want to live, who do you want to live your life with, what do you want in your life, let your imagination run wild, you have no restrictions. Remember if you can see it in your mind then you can hold it in your hand.
Once you have the thing that you want the most, write that down, that then becomes the goal that you will be shooting for!
Make certain that you set the right goal, and I guarantee you, you'll never have to worry
about getting up in the morning. You won't have to worry about having a good day. You're going to be working toward your goal.
A goal happens twice once in your mind and once in your hand, once you have it in your mind, it's just a matter of time until it manifests.
And that's the way you want to treat it.
